Fall, we felt herA Poem by Andromedayeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, not the best, but still good i guessWe held onto the remnants of the summer As though we were holding onto the rope that would save our lives, Dangling off the cliff, grasping on straws for hope, Staring down the bitter slope. We held onto the remnants of the summer Like kids to balloon strings, Like husbands and wives to rings, And, as the bird sings, like worms to cool, muddy shelter As the remnants peeled back And D R O P P E D Helter-skelter, And oh, Oh Oh, Fall, we felt her. We held onto the remnants of summer With our tight, greedy fists, Not ready to depart the sprinkler mists and swimming pools, Not ready to fully lose what we already missed. We held onto the remnants of summer, But the remnants of summer, They just let go.
