The Christmas Card Angel

The Christmas Card Angel

A Poem by SmittyJas
"

Only the best angels get to be on the Christmas Cards

"
At the stroke of Midnight on Christmas Eve
We all sat around the angel tree
We opened one gift from mom and pap
We cherished it for it came from the heart

Now Mom wiped away a shaded tear
Pap held her hand like a gentleman
They were Caught under neath the missile toe
Pap puckered up and gave mom a Christmas Kiss

All the eight children could see
The romance still was soaring
Higher in the heaven where it first began
A love like this is only heaven sent

I seen it in their eyes for more then fifty years
This Christmas of much joy is not different
Bring all the loved ones together near and far
A blessed Christmas For one and all.

Smitty, what a beautiful poem and I simply love the sentiment. When you spoke of parents, the picture you painted with your words were very vivid to me. In fact, the whole poem provided me a beautiful picture of Christmas and of course I loved the ending. Happy Holidays to you as well. Poetry 101 Tag
