Wins and Loses

Wins and Loses

A Poem by SmittyJas
"

Love life Baseball fan can compare the too and make the story of loves golden rules.

"
was twenty years ago
When Love life was a rocky place
Like being the rocky mountains with out a map
You could wonder around and stub you toes on many rocks

Love was blind for a time
I walked a fine line
I tried too keep it on the right path
Loses was plowing up

The baseball game was in the bottom of the ninths
and two outs with two Strikes
and down by one run
The closer was on the mound

One sweet swing was on my mind
two were out in the bottom of the ninths
This is where I keep my family feed
In the clutch of the ninth hour

Our love matter and was on the line
Just one more pitch foul or strike
It may be the last chance of the night
My love life was always two outs in the ninths

Pressure building on throw away from a complete game
Only one to nothing what's the score
The home crowd screamed for more
She knew I carries a big stick

Some times it made my heart sick
to see this type of pressure on our love affair
The closer grabs the ball firmly
before he throws this knuckled curve

Its low and away ball three
two strikes
Could I deliver a blow tonight
Save our love from the loss tonight

As I chocked up on the bat
For what could be my last swing of the night
The closer got his favorite grip on the ball
He's about to let me have it all

Last pitch of the night
Pray I don't miss it for the last strike
get a hit get on prolong the game
For the next batter to do the same

the pitch was a sweet pitch too hit
I got it between short and third
the outfielder held me to a single
And now it was up to Johnny could be our last hope

First pitch taking called strike
Second pitch outside and high
I held back on my swing
There was a hush in the crowd

the night was still young
The boys of summer
were just having fun
The closer throw in right past Johnny

Strike two down to the last strike of the night
Johnny choked up on the bat held it real tight
The closer thrown the ball so fast
But Johnny caught it on the end of this bat

the crowd was in a uproar
for the ball was hit quit a distance
and the left fielder watched climb over the wall
The game was over Johnny was the hero of the night

the crowd with a standing Ovation
When Johnny came in I said to him
You did it you saved this game
We had defeated their best closer

We'll come back tomorrow
And try to do it all over again
Johnny was the pride of the Yankees
And his story is told to many a fans of the game

Another championship for the dam Yanks
The most hated team in baseball
For the seem to win more the any one before them
New York goes wild over the Yankees and their victories

Our love life was never quit the same
After the yankees gained there fame
For it was a special October night
When me and my wife make up for good

The love game worked very well
Our love was burning like the fires of hell
Smoke came out of the roof top
and our love was won with no loses

What a great poem with the wonderful baseball metaphors. I almost asked my husband but thought I figured most of it out; the baseball terms. You always write such lovely poems about love. Something I tried in White Wolf, a contest - Lord knows it was so hard. But this one just flowed so well with great sentiment. Thanks again Smitty.
