The monster is sleeping under my bed
Scratching my skin, inside my head
Hungry, hopeless, lonely and lost
Screams for mercy, at personal cost
Must I succumb to overwhelming fear?
And mangle those whom I hold dear
Forsake humanity for the sake of life
Lend a hand to the world’s endless strife?
Lord, there must be something better out there
Something worthwhile, something fair.
