My Mantra
Dear Intelligent People Who Are Reading This…
I have recently adopted the following mantra as my own: “I am a moron who is surrounded by imbeciles that are governed by idiots.”
I will be the first to admit that I am not “the sharpest knife in the drawer”. In fact, during my formative years, everyone who knew me had bestowed the epithet of “Alan the Idiot” upon me because I was gullible and naive enough to accept whatever I was told as Gospel Truth. I was so desperate to be accepted by my peers that I would believe anything I was told, no matter how outrageous it sounded. I was also dumb enough to believe every word of propaganda I heard from parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, administrators, clergy, ecclesiastical leaders, legislators, office holders, members of congress, advertisers, whoever.
The imbeciles are those allegedly well-meaning individuals who give outdated advice for, in their own words, “your own good.” They reject new ideas and innovations because they go against their archaic thinking and long-forgotten traditions. I have had personal experience with people like this. Whenever I attempted to explain the things I had learned in seminars, workshops, and even college courses, I was immediately dismissed with cliché phrases such as “That’s not how we did it in my day”, “This is the way we’ve always done it”, or “I don’t know nothing about it.” These were usually followed by worthless childhood anecdotes, scripture passages, and outdated statistics.
The idiot is a whole different animal. They are the ones who are under the delusion that they are in charge. They are in the positions they are in because of their sponsors, whom they erroneously refer to as “donors”. In case no one knows the difference. A donor gives money to a cause without expectations, whereas a sponsor invests his money and expects results. To them, the oath they take to become a public servant is meaningless and viewed as a formality. They are easy to spot because they are the ones with their head so far up someone’s orifice that they cannot see and hear what the constituents need. I need to add that organized religion is not much better. They dictate how the members of their respective congregations are supposed to live their lives while committing the very sins they preach from the pulpit. Ecclesiastical leaders also fleece their followers to accumulate vast amounts of wealth to enrich themselves, build monuments, or both.
Before I conclude this narrative, I would like to offer another mantra to those who object to the bullshit the idiots use to smother us.
“The weight of a problem is less when it is burdened by many shoulders.”
This is my invitation for us to look beyond our differences and focus on our similarities. We need to unite as a people. I said everything I needed to say.
