I want to stay in your arms, but I'm afraid I'll drown.

You rise like the tides

storming and beautiful

You carry a grace so unbound and perfect

so flawless I feel I know I don't belong to you

but I want to so I stay

swept in your arms

like an embrace from the raging sea

I try to swim away

but like the ocean you carry me through the currents

As much as I may want to get away

I never will

As much as you make me feel scared and alone

I know, desperately and always, I'm surrounded by you

and that holds a comfort that's all it's own.

 

Author's Note

I wrote this for a lot of reasons. I wanted to stray a little from my usual romantic poetry that's all sappy and gushy and write something that was, yes, about being in love, but also about feeling unsure of that love. I'd love to know what you think ^~^

This is a beautiful ballad, or sonnet...i could feel the bitter ocean spray on my face and taste the salt on the wind, the juxtaposition of wanting to go but staying anyway was done superbly!
I am still savoring the words, one of my favorites!
i think most of my favorites on my list are by you..lol!
