Global Dumbing

A song I wrote about the current state we're in as a nation in quick decline

Sliding backwards down an icy road

All traction has been lost

Our driver sitting helpless at the wheel

A forseen cost

All options for a safe return

Were politely declined

We hopped aboard without a second thought

Of our demise

Now we're stranded with no help in sight

Will we ever find an out

Those in earshot only turn their heads

No need to scream & shout

Collectively, we find retreat

But the driver's fate was sealed

It's hard to move past our mistakes

In time, all is healed

All the ice, it melts away again

With it, reminders of our wrongs

Will this new season bring a fruitful yield

Together, can we carry on

Will we become the butt of the joke

In our future's history

Can we prove that we've got what it takes

To make this the place you wanna be
