Summer Breeze

Summer Breeze

A Poem by Richard M
"

Friendship love, understanding soul deep!

"

(for Dove)

Like a sunrise she comes,

her letter at my door

  like a smile from a thousand miles,

seeing her name the greatest joy,

her sweet words like

  a soft summer breeze;

someone so familiar, so much loved,

such a beautiful spark.

So long in knowing

  a friend so far away,

so far, yet so very close

  in my heart, my mind.

Her soul, her words soothing,

softly caressing, touching

  my soul through talking,

listening, understanding,

the breath of her words

  like warm summer breezes

  gently embracing me.

Opening up to each other

  in trusting, confiding,

in sharing who we are,

our emotions in honesty

  without fear, without doubt.

She brings calm, focus, an

  understanding of what is,

to each the oxygen of friendship,

of acceptance, of a love endless,

our strengths empowering

  the other even through

  such a distance!

So long together in friendship,

having shared so much of us;

our lives, revealing hearts,

our personal struggles,

the deepness of our souls.

Together we hold in our pains,

yet revel in a friendships love,

hands and hearts held across oceans wide.

So many roads travelled together

  revealing who we are;

hands held with fingers entwined

  in understanding, confiding.

Though so far away I feel her heart,

my arms like wings, a feather touch around her,

sitting silently together in our minds,

coffee, holding hands, imagining

  each other’s voice, laughter, but

  so much said, felt through distance;

both talking as if in the same room,

words weaving into the fabric of us.

Each, forever beautiful in

  the other’s life endlessly,

our story being told and

  forever so, to each

  a summer breeze!

This is an awesome poem & tribute to your friend. Lots of people feel that online friendship doesn't have the same "quality" or "reality" without face-to-face interactions. Your poem is a convincing argument about knowing online friendship may even be better than face-to-face, becuz sometimes we humans can be too cantankerous, focusing on dumb stuff, picking fights or taking things personally . . . whereas every online word is well-considered & savored in a way that face-to-face interactions often aren't. Your gratitude is the loudest refrain in your poem (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Hello Richard!! This poem is filled with so much feelings in it for you and your dearest friend which I enjoyed reading. I too have a friend that lives miles away and we never met but our friendship is something near and dear to my heart as well. Friendship is such a precious thing and you were able to capture that.

Hope all will turn out well between you and your friend. Thanks for sharing a part of yourself!!

Nothing quite like a true friendship… playing that old favourite song 🎶 summer breeze 🎶 while reading this… the riff is so hauntingly good…. (seals and Crofts, 1972)

What soulful words to a dear love who lives oceans away....yet the letters seem to satisfy some of the yearning to touch, to hold ,to squeeze, to kiss, to laugh, to be intimate..... so many things missing...even apart remember that you and she are thinking about each other, dreaming about each other and keeping those letters in your heart....lovely

This poem is beautifully written. It captures how delightful and difficult love is. When you care for someone in any way, distance can mean nothing yet everything.

What a beautiful friendship you have across the miles. So uplifting to read, and your words so heartfelt. Lovely writing Richard. I could also feel the anticipation and longing for those letters.
