Spirit Touch

Spirit Touch

A Poem by Richard M
"

Friendship love, deep soul attachment!

"

(for Dove)

I sit with you, I hold your hand

  daily that you will understand,

I’m there with you though we’re far apart

with friendship love in our hearts.

We’ve shared a friendship over many years,

healing hearts and wiping tears,

we’ve  talked, we’ve laughed, bared our souls

in a friendship that will see us old!

A tender touch, a whispered word,

I’M THERE sounded in wind chimes heard,

we’ve helped each other through so much,

sharing trials we’ve felt spirit touch.

We cling, we hold in together love,

bonded by prayers above,

somehow a connection through seasons long,

together in a knowing strong!

You’re here with me that gentle breeze,

a bird’s song in shimmering trees,

you hold my hand, I close my eyes,

nature’s song soothing under Washington skies,

the sun’s warmth upon my skin

  reminds me your presence within.

In your mind I’m there, with

  long brushstrokes of greying hair,

an owl’s cry in the rain,

whispering words in healing pain,

coffee mugs links our space,

a photograph a remembered face.

Over the waves we share our news,

things discussed, considered views,

we talk, we laugh, bare our souls,

our healing wisdom we divulge.

A tender touch, a wisp of hair,

forever wildlife music in the air,

spirit touch links our hearts

in friendship, for both a missing part!

Understanding hearts unheard,

every sigh and every word,

someone to talk to, in whom to confide,

someone to run to, in arms to hide.

A gentle breeze upon a face,

an outdoor swing a restful place;

a place of healing, a shelter safe,

a love time will not erase.

In our souls a strength we weave,

a connection no one can conceive,

I hold your hand that you will know

from your side I’ll never go,

that I love you so much, and

forever we’ll be in spirit touch.

Brought back so many memories of my grand parents. She had dementia and he tried so hard to keep her at home by caring for her. He was offered a carer's allowance but he refused it as he said it was his duty as her husband to look after her as it said in his vows for better or for worse but in the end it just got too much and she had to be put into a nursing home. He would go and see her every day and talk to what was left of her..some days were good days others not so. After her funeral all the family went back to the house and he asked if he could have a lie down so we said he could go to bed for a rest. About three hours later we heard him awaken and he was singing his head off....it was like a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders with her passing

This is the ultimate explanation of how it can feel to have a spirit connection. I'm in awe of your all-encompassing way of delivering such messages in verse with strong rhyme & rhythm. I love the way you use vivid details to let us see & feel the way this friendship transmits over time & distance. Many times I'm left wanting MORE (when reading brief poems) but with you, I always get my fill of every little thought you share to paint the scene so thoroughly (but never boringly long!) *smile* Fondly, Margie
