An American StandsA Poem by Spoken
Bombs are falling like spit from their lips
And though I lay amidst the rubble
Still I breath
With every gasp I defy them
Fists clenched tight for my right
To exist
Towers may crumble
War machines may rumble
In the distant hills
But I exhale
And blow them down
With my will to live
They are coming
With their destruction
And their kamikaze rhetoric
To infect a nation
to populate hate
multiplying fears
Yet here I stand
Atop the towers I can still see
Screaming across the seas
“You can’t kill a dream”
“You can’t kill a dream”
