Safety

Safety

A Poem by Hallow

And when we push this button
It will be inside out.
The world will fold unto itself
As darkness runs about.

As we pull the frayed plug,
We'll end this game.
As we shovel the loose dirt,
We might bury shame.

And we'll cut off this engine
So it hiccups and stalls.
We'll flip off this lone light bulb
To begin the fall of falls.

Our last act with frozen breath
Is to lock all the doors.
We'll board up all our windows
As a hurricane roars.

We've finally trapped ourselves
In this stark safe haven.
The ghosts are just outside,
Their wails so graven.

Alone at last, just us here now
In a house of stone.
We have all the nails needed
To finally atone.
