Betelgeuse

Betelgeuse

A Poem by Starling

A crimson runaway, the outlawed sun

hurled through space and time

brought to rest on the shoulder of the hunter
waiting for the inevitable collapse - shattering

A glow of red in the northern winter
the swordsman in the sky
brings life to dark clouds unborn
spiralling into clusters of dust - erratic

The crimson giant, the outlawed sun
voids into non-existence
these particles in the atmosphere
ready for the inevitable collapse - imploding

The mouth, the sword, the sail
in the belly of the hunter
stray the ghosts of stars unknown
the beginning and end of life - eternal
