Watching You Sleep

Watching You Sleep

A Poem by Seductively Sentimental
"

Another old one written 10/17/2002

"

A candle is flickering softly,

the shadow caressing your face,

and I am embraced with emotion

to be in this moment, this place.

A smile reveals my contentment,

immune to the cares of the world.

I wonder what is it you're dreaming

as the corners of your lips form a curl.

With a finger I'm tracing your profile,

absorbing the warmth of your skin.

I'm fused with a lingering feeling

Amused as my head takes a spin

I'm wishing that I had a camera

to capture this picture I see.

I'm blind to the fears that would frighten

I see only what ought to be.

I watch as you sleep like a baby,

and freeze at occasional stirs

Delirious passion; my illness

The last thing I want is a cure.

So tender and warm. It feels like a quiet promise made during soft moments. I love the “little things” line; it stays with me.
