Dark Cloud

A Poem by Steven Pottle

I’m not sure what’s running around my body
It’s not blood, it isn’t love
It’s some kind of bleak muddy stuff
That crawls the walls of my insides
A sorry excuse for all I’m supposed to be…
Of all of the things that I wanted to be.

And dark cloud could you just shift for a bit
Please let some sunshine peek in
If only for just one second of the day
So that I can feel human and useful before you come back again.

My poor father held under by the constant thunder
It wasn’t smoke, it wasn’t mirrors
It’s the downpour of something sinister
That moved in while he was soundly sleeping
A monster that does exist with sudden screams
He must try to resist this horrible being…

And dark cloud could you please just part for him now
Where’s the silver lining to his cloud
So that a life can shout out loud,
“Before it’s my time, before you come back darker-
I just want to feel ageless and ALIVE”

A painfully fluid insight.

You're fighting many battles baby, but I'm sure you'll start to win some soon. X
