BrotherA Poem by AmandaWritten for my friend Lexi
“Brother!” she calls, lost in the wood.
There is nothing but an echo, Of memories past that hold nothing good, He hasn’t left her, no, Just forgotten again, Least that’s what she says. Does she know it’s pretend? The girl needs her brother, To protect her from harm, But he’s a fighter, not a lover, Any chatter sends an alarm. He’s never lent her a hand, But she still loves him, Though from his heart she’s banned. She’ll keep on hoping, That one day he’ll talk. ‘Till then I’ll her help her coping, And on that day I’ll balk. “Christopher,” she whispers, Reaching out to find, Nothing but trees and burs, For now he remains unkind. © 2012 AmandaAuthor's Note
