Two Trees

Two Trees

A Poem by Sumo

As I pull out of my driveway leaving for work
I glance your way to erase the hurt

So close yet so far away
I think of you and the things I wish to say

We're like two trees planted too far apart
Growing towards one another like our heart

Rooted firmly in our desires and what we deserve
My love for you blossoming without reserve

Like the sun shining I yearn to feel your warmth
Outstretched and exposed, your my true north

The storms that surround, may make us sway
But even with you too far apart I'll never stray

A love like yours I've never known
Even in this short time I feel I've grown

A new reason to live I can't wait to awake
You give me something no other woman can imitate

You make my heart swell, you nourish my soul
You complete me and make me whole

Without you I'd surely wither and rot
Without you, I would be just an empty lot.....
