Hopeful Regret

Hopeful Regret

A Poem by Sumo

The search for my one true love, continuing day by day
Never giving up not taking no for an answer
Knowing that the one for me will come my way
A woman I'll never change, only enhance her

Wishing the darkness would stop, allowing the sunshine in
Putting an end to this journey of shattered dreams
Telling myself just because I'm down, it's not over. Get up again!
Fet up with posting those sorrowful memes

Picking up the pieces, one at a time
Tired of playing those romantic games
Trying to think of what to say, line by line
Making lists, keeping track of names

Phone numbers, addresses, likes and dislikes
The miles driven and the time spent
The messages sent and the lack of replies
Attempting to figure out where all the love went

Discouraged and saddened
My loves name remains a mystery
Full of anger I madden
Nothing left except the moments throughout my history

My other half meant for me
Waiting for our paths to cross
One day, true love for her to see
Hoping those before will feel their loss

A great love was theirs to be had
Now they search just as I
Their wish was but a command
It's they who did not comply

To the wonderful man who loved to much
Who was always loyal and sweet
That made them smile and blush
Healing my heart making me complete
