Peephole

Peephole

A Poem by Sumo

Sometimes I feel like I'm looking at life through a peep hole
No longer able to see the world around me
Missing the wonders of love, you stole
I can only focus on what was supposed to be

My head pressed tight against the door
I strain trying to see more

I beat on the hardwood, fists clinched firm
Screaming at the top of my lungs, wishing I could be heard

I watch life pass before my eye
Wanting to participate in the world
Believing the blue sky I see is a lie
When all I have is black and Grey swirl

I check the knob, even though I know it's locked
Like this door, my happiness is blocked
