Self

Self

A Poem by Sumo

Our Spirit, a gift from God: the ability to see and hold onto eternal things
The power to add definition to all of life's meanings

Our Soul is the foundation of our feelings, desires and affections
The birthplace of our entire emotional spectrum

Today we tend to feed our soul and starve our spirit
We're convicted and around Gods word but refuse most times to hear it

If we spend our lives indulging in earthly desires
Then our spirit isn't receiving what it requires

How can we grow if we don't have the definitions (spirit)
Of the emotional turmoil in which we're positioned (soul)

We must turn away that which poisons us
Place our noses up in disgust

Heed His word and transform our life
Stop being lazy and begin to thrive

Be healthy in spirit and wealthy at home
Bountiful in the tending of self grown

Active in arming ourselves against the detriment that engulfs
Let the blood of Christ fill our pulse

Fight, fight for peace of mind and sanity
Pray for this version of humanity

Break the chains and be the example we're intended to be
Shine bright and glorious for all to see
