Loves Curse

Loves Curse

A Poem by Sumo

With all desires comes sacrifices, beware of those most sought
You’ll most likely lose yourself and end up broken and distraught

Time reveals our true nature, so why do we anguish over the ones who left us
Is living heartbroken and alone better than a happy fool with mistrust

Love the most devious of all things
Blinded by the shiny in those wedding rings

It gnaws away at your previous pain
Only to return it tenfold again

We swear, this time is our last, yet doubt dangles
Finding new ways to enter, newer angles

With emboldened resolve while single we do our best to keep it at bay
Not wanting to believe the promises they say
Yet when found, we end up begging it to stay

To those who escaped loves curse
Congratulations on missing out on this hurt too often rehearsed
Trust you’re better off never knowing a broken heart feels worse
