Goodbye

I was inspired by sad songs. Plus after writing "Move on" I felt that I also had to say "Goodbye" ...

I waited so long, to say this simple word

Powerful enough to destroy my whole world

 

A world of sweet dreams and lovely fantasy

A world sometimes governed by insanity

 

Although I am scared, to simply walk away

I know there’s no point for me to try to stay

 

Thank you for the joy that you brought upon my life

Sadly it was just a lie that struck my heart with a knife

 

I’ll cry you, I’ll miss you, and I’ll sing you sad songs

But amidst all this ache I know I have to be strong

 

Now I want you to hear my sweet voice one last time

Resounding in your head like the sound of a chime

 

But all that you’ll hear is my footsteps slip by

Vanishing in the distance as I wave you Goodbye  !

Saying Good bye is never easy when you have suffered pain of love and trying to move on. I know how it feels.

It's always a hard thing to say goodbye, at least for me. I just wanted to say goodbye in a sweeter way. Have been meaning to write a poem about goodbye for a while. I'm happy I finally wrote one.

Great rhythm and rhyme to this heartfelt yet fun to read poesy. The second line to every stanza made me smile at how you rhymed with the first line, but with yet such a powerful meaning to go with it. You're an amazing writer!

I love poetry inspired by other works of art! This one is very good. You encompass many facets of breaking up and "saying goodbye" to someone... I especially like the idea of "A world of sweet dreams and lovely fantasy / A world sometimes governed by insanity." I've never actually been in this kind of a relationship before, but... this sounds like the inside of my head. :) My favorite part, however, is the final four lines. I like how you play upon the sound imagery with "sweet voice," "sound of a chime," and "all that you'll hear is my footsteps slip away." Nice work!

My head is always filled with thoughts and I tend to daydream a lot sometimes, that's where the "sweet dreams, fantasy and insanity" came from.
For the sounds... I was picturing the voice... echoing and resounding over and over like a wind chimes, swaying in the wind ^_^
