A Whisper

This is a basically about flirting and a one night stand.

A whisper of a glance
"Come hither"
as a whisper is
thunderous from across
the room.

 

Coquettish eyes
whispering softly,
awakening
a barren moon.

 

The taste of a breeze
lingers upon the tongue
as a whisper trickles
down the spine
within the currents
of a honeysuckle fragrance.

 

And as the candle of night
vanishes with the whispers of love;
parting is always bittersweet.

 

The whisper of the night lingers
in the blossom of the dawn,
as the mist of twilight
vanishes upon
the rose.

I like how you took the topic of flirtation and one-night stands (somewhat risque) and turned it into something romantic and beguiling, rather than just sexual and lewd... does that make sense? I really enjoyed the subtle beauty of this poem.

whispers can be so many different things to a person. a whisper can be a furtive flirtation, a denial, a betrayal, an insult and as you say a "come hither" suggestion...this is great! i love this write!

You've got a truly amazing gift to compose the moments, frame it for the reader to hang upon the wall. Now...I did not know what coquettish eyes were, however I was intrigued enough to look it up. Now that I do it really unveils the felicity of the amorous passing moment. I guess I should have read the intro...That said the definition added more spice to the context of the moment. I will be reading on as time allows ~
