A Moonless Night

Paint me a moonless night,

and no stars in the sky~

And I will surrender;

teach me how to fly...

Take me to the edge 

until I can no longer climb~

Paint me a moonless night

just one more time...

Do not cuddle me like a sparrow

my eagle in flight~

Make me sing like a canary

'til dawns early light...

Make me flutter like a butterfly

in your net of passion~

Release my love

within my heart of emotion...

And if I fly away and never return~

Will the winds of a moonless night

 In the nest of love yearn?

My favorite thing about this poem is making it a moonless and starless night, as opposed to a moonlit/starlit night, which is the norm for a romantic mood. It paints a clean canvas to start on, and it adds to the free, pure feeling of love present in flight.
