Sweet Fragrance

The bud of a rose flowering with love

awakens to dew of the morn

Petals delicately soft as velvet

a pink rose not meant to be scorned~

The swirling of  fuchsia blends in the rose

unfolding cannot be ignored

Exuding with seductive sweet fragrance

lingers in senses to adore~

The sweet gentle song of the hummingbird

and whispering butterfly breeze,

It climbs the diamond trellis of the stars

within the moonlight of the trees.

This poem is beautiful. I think the rose is much too overexposed, sold in grocery stores as a symbol of love, though your poem, in it's beauty does carry the true essence of this wonderful bloom. I have many in my garden and to take that moment on a hot day to pause and inhale their sweet fragrance is heaven as it is this morning to pause and read your fragrant words. I love the "diamond trellis to the stars"

Thank you, I was worried with that one. I just knew I would get lost somewhere in it and I was just as surprised as you that I pulled it off. Rose, there's no need to be shy, I'll bet you would do a beautiful job and this poem right here would be perfect. Just do what I do, lock yourself in a room and pretend you are just reading it to yourself. I can assure you, I was nervous the first time, but after that it is easy.

Roses were never my favorite flowers, I'd much rather wildflowers, yet in your poetry I see the beauty and you might even have me re-thinking those gorgeous sights. Lovely as always Rose.....

Thanks Frieda...I have some rose bushes but they will die if not taken care of...unlike other flowers but at least the deer around here wont eat the roses ...they eat the yellow flowers...:)

It may sound "girly" to say this, but I have an addiction to the beauty found in a rose...
My dad had a large rose garden when I was a child and we helped him tend these plants.
I would study the delicate buds and watch them change from compressed tension to the fully fragrant blossoms. I gave my wife a dozen roses every week for years... Until I did not have the money in school... ha.
Nature can bring us to new understanding of life and a rose has much to offer in her lessons...
