God is Always There

Come with me
into the meadow of the mind   
where God is found.  Its ambience
is of reflection, and cannot be earned.
     
It is the ringing in the far-off hills,
never heard above the silence of the damned.
It is the glimmer of the light
just after sundown as it falls
upon the facing cliffs that form
the walls of dreams.
It is the unpretentious whispering of love
relentless patriots will always bury
underneath the fusillade of war.

So limns the meadowland of God,
footprint of the divine.
It is too much to worship, venerate or pray to.
Too much to wrap around reality
or ever simulate or hold above our heads.
It is not to understand; for
God may not be any where.
God is to be.

It's C of E Dean. It's a small parish church in the village, but very vibrant and well attended, often standing room only for the main Sunday service. There are always lots of children and part way through the service they troop off to the church rooms for bible reading and other related activities. Once a month we have shared lunch after service. Everyone brings something and helps out, particularly with the older member of the congregation, a number of whom are on their own. The church also runs a children's Saturday club and during the week there is always something going on, such as bible studies,choir practice or home group get together'. Our vicar is wonderful. My son Charlie really enjoys both the Saturday club and Sundays at church.

sounded like Unitarian. I used to be Anglican, and loved it until my own faith became broader. I'm sure at least yours is relatively non-dogmatic and that you are on the right track. Enjoy yours as you go along.

A beautiful prayer, (almost a hymn,) as much as a poem. It would read so well at our church service.
