Almost Ex Nihilo

A Poem by Dean

There is you.
There is I.
We have never met,
nor have we ever heard of us
until this moment when together
you and I created something ponderous
never born of God,
or any time at all.

It is the words involving us,
the ones I write, the very ones
you read that reach your mind
and flutter there, seeking shelter
somewhere we have mindlessly decreed,
you and I, this moment, and
the reason not yet known.

If that is not phenomenon
enough to liven any empty page,
I'll have to say it dazzles me
and opens exploration of
suburban plats in an existence
only dimly seen before.

Now...
The trail comes into view.
