Alaska..... 0700 July 27th 2024
Field marshal George McGwire sat in his chair in a small building in anchorage Alaska commanding his small force of around 50,000 US army recruits. They had gotten word of a possible proposed Russian invasion of Alaska and were dispatched there to deal with it. With it being so early in the war the general would have liked to have dismissed the idea as preposterous and a sure suicide mission. Unfortunately he was across the battlefield from the most notorious Russian commander since the days of Stalin. Ivan trinkov. Trinkov had been commander during the Baltic war and was responsible for the Russian military being able to easily smash through the Baltic's and even local US infantry units. He was known for making seemingly suicidal plans work to perfection and he intended for this one to work as well. He was equipped with a force of 150,000 of the best soldiers the motherland had which made him numerically superior 3 times over. Trinkov knew that he had every advantage in the world with just his infantry so he didn't bother to bring the armor or artillery he only packed Infantry supplies and moral boosters. One thing he didn't account for was the cold. The cold a Russian only experienced in Siberia. The kind of cold McGwire and his all Alaskan force were native to. He also didn't get wind of the 200 American tanks dug in around the landing area or the fully equipped 500 American artillery pieces zoned in on the beach. He planned to bring the war to the American homeland and he was gonna get an abundance of American troops ready to defend their country. At 2300 trinkov ordered the landing craft to start heading ashore. As they did you could hear the Russian troops singing songs of the glory of their country and leader. This may have boosted moral but it gave the US army the perfect idea of where they were at. Once the Russian forces reached land they exited their vehicles to a surprising quiet. So as they walked up the beach they kept singing their songs and that's exactly what McGwire wanted. An easily pinpointed target. The American force fired flares into the front back and middle of the advancing Russians and as the flares fell so did thousands of tons of artillery. The Russians began to run however some began to dig foxholes into the snow and ice and they lay crying from the shock they received however many Russian soldiers were killed nobody knew until after the battle how many died. The Russians that kept going reached the edge of the beach in about 15 minutes but their force had been severely dwindled and they didn't have enough to push the Americans out of their positions but they tried anyway. Hopping over the barbed wire these remaining thousands of Russians charged American lines and brought the battle down to a melee. The superior moral of the Americans was the decision of this battle as the Russians retreated back to their motherland McGwire ordered his men to count up the casualties on both sides. All in all the Russians listed about 70,000 men killed to a meager 6,000 American deaths. The first battle of this war was a decisive American victory. © 2019 DallasAuthor's Note
