Man Vs. Animal

Man Vs. Animal

A Poem by Zach Gordano

What separates animal from man?
The loyal hound may embark on a journey,
But she always returns home,
To me.
She knows the way.
I gave her life,
Showed her the way.
She will not turn her back to me.
And we make each other laugh
With a smile and a wag of the tail.
I fed her for so long,
And she never bites
The hand that feeds.
And I know that she truly needs me
To survive.
She loves me
To thrive.

People are animals too.
But you...
I know that you
Separate animal from man
With your narcissistic human mind
Because you have yet to find your way home,
To me.
