Mama's Little Helper

Mama's Little Helper

A Poem by TTBoy28

They weren't of her beloved Army man

Nobody knows this but

 The Bottle

There's a little bottle

in Mama's closet where she found

her Army man's letter to her best friend

The bottle helps Mama believe the

 letter was intended for her

There's a little bottle Mama kept

 for safe keeping in case

her life got out of hand

If her old man had known this

he would have been able to see

his first born graduate from college

There's a little bottle Mama keeps in

the glove compartment of her other three

 children's car

They each got one for graduating

There's a little bottle in each of her other

 children's room

All for the memory

the first born stayed in the basement

There's a little bottle

that lets Mama talk to her other children

They all left when they got their car

The first born moved up to the attic

There's a little bottle Mama wants

to put in her first born's limousine

It just sits in her hand

But the limousine doesn't come around

Only an occasional phone call

The bottle can't go through the telephone

Only places where mama had

 high hopes for

But she just can't find one

 to go where she hadn't

This is a very interesting piece. I, for the life of me, have so many unanswered questions about what the little bottle is.

Well written and captivating. This left me wanting answers to a few questions, and I like pieces which make me think.
