The Gift

The Gift

A Poem by TTBoy28

I resented her

I resented her for singing that song

when I thought I had everything I could possibly

 want

I resented her

I resented her for having a gift that only the Giver of Gifts

could give

and then I heard the words

and although she did not write them, there was

 perfection

and I resented her

I resented her for singing that song

because it touched me so deeply that I became enraged

enraged to the point of wanting to meet her and tell her

 give her my two cents

to stop her from making millions on my pain

I did resent her

and wondered when she would tire of the charade

She had everything

She was envied and yet the Giver of Gifts needed her

needed her to spread The Love

yet she was loved

and bonded with another creator

yet she was loved and created a timeless melody

that I resented

until I needed someone

until I needed someone to show me love

by giving of themselves

and then, I felt the Giver of Gifts and realized that

People who need People

are the luckiest people in the world

One of the ways I know I enjoyed or cared about a piece is whether or not I read it more than once. I read this several times, obtaining more and more meaning each time. You are extremely talented. I'm curious as to which singer you are writing about. It's interesting, because the speaker feels so strange for having such emotion over a far-off person. I think we have all experienced something similar, even if we don't want to admit it.
