If and When I Sleep

If and When I Sleep

A Poem by TTBoy28

If and when I

 do fall asleep

I pray to the Lord in the sky

my soul to keep

Will I drift

with a smile

Or will it all

have been futile?

Prayers been said

Before I rest my head

Emotions flow like a willow

Stain and drain my down-filled pillow

My comforter offers

little support

Engaging with coughers

All who see me contort

Machines do force

my heart to jump

Time has run its course

Once blood fails to pump
