Picking Up Your Pieces

Picking Up Your Pieces

Here I go again

Picking up your pieces

That I threw out once before

When you showed you don’t love me anymore

And there you go again

All wide-eyed seeking direction

How is your friend

Did he send you back for confession

But I’m tired

Almost inspired

To let them all see the creases of my heart

From picking up your pieces

So, here we are again

After you’ve lost your new best friend

Who has cancelled all your leases

Like I’ll be picking up your pieces

What they don’t know

You’ll never show

I could do a college thesis

While I’m picking up your pieces

Everywhere you had me

Going so crazy I couldn’t see

I took note

And remembered what I wrote

I got just what I asked for

And thought who could ask for more

For myself

It was everyone else

What you never gave

Could have led me to my grave

If I kept giving in

Talk about mortal sin

When I described you to perfection

I forgot to add affection to direction

Now I take teases

For picking up your pieces
