The Stair Case

The Stair Case

A Poem by TTBoy28

I tried to make it up the stairs

Without making too much noise

Every step I took

Let me know how much I was alive

Didn’t want to startle you

As I tried to make it to the top

Somehow I knew

I still had to tell you it was me

If only the steps I take

Could be the love we make

Different things we shake

The wrong part of the earth we make quake

But this is a two-way staircase

I move up and you stand still

Should I wake you when I get there

So you can help me break my will

Don’t accuse me of being squeaky

I’m always clean when I come home

Guess I’ve worn out my perception

On my way to Heaven passing by deception

I’m where I want to be

It’s so hard to sell you my reality

I just wish you could see

You helped build this staircase for me
