From Fraud to Gaud to... Oh My Gawd

From Fraud to Gaud to... Oh My Gawd

A Poem by TTBoy28

At the top of the long-stemmed

 champagne glass peaked the success

achieved after a year-long battle with fraud

Every cork was popped above the table

on the patio too cool to be seated

until thoughts and senses were lost

Needing to belong to the world of excess

saliva slipped from the lips that

nursed the brawn from the tips that

prepared the quips for disaster

Down below were ants

that scurried to reach them and party

with them from the attraction of their sugar

If a glass was empty

it was broken and a new one used

and so on

Soon, after the bubbles were flat

they met the ants below in their birthday suits

Some even held hands

though their splatter failed to pitter patter

spoiled the matter

Now,

long-stemmed champagne glasses are sold at IKEA

and Waterford is hardly ever advertised

. ha ha ! ... it's a rocket write ... "though their splatter failed to pitter patter" is just so remarkable a line ... superb alliteration ...
