The Police

A Mothers response inspired by a live cop tv programme. If the police want respect, THEY have to earn it, not treat our children as if they have no human rights.

They wonder why they are not popular.

 

When we British subjects

watch the police on the box,

detain, manhandle then strip search,

a sixteen year old girl, who is hysterical,

taking five male and female officers

to do the vile deed, only to find NO Drugs.

 

And those b******s wonder why

they are not popular?

In British Society.

Are Disgusting.  Inhuman.

Too much power.  Not concentrating on real

crime.  Just abusing our children. 

Getting away with murder

because the bully at the top

in british society

Says it is ok.

 

Down with politicians.

Up with humane standards of behaviour.

We are ALL accountable for our actions.

And they let the film crews watch

the destruction of a young girl’s life?

 

Whoever they think they are

We will find them,

And we will leave a scar.

 

Shame on you few so called,

boys and girls in blue.

May the same vile treatment

Never happen to you.

 

Because in my world

Two foul wrongs

do not make a right.

 

Do not try to justify your actions.

Just do it right.

They're not much better in America, to be honest.
Though we seem to have entire shows glorifying them, for reasons I can't completely understand.
I guess it's just that we get a 'kick' out of seeing people arrested. It's good for our tiny egos.

Glad to see that in Britain, people actually get offended. (A moving poem as well, while we're at it.)

Ah..
This piece of work invoked a strong reaction in me as well. I'm American, but see no difference in our supossed "protectors of the peace". Just the other day I was watching an episode of SWAT where a young man, under the suspicion of dealing drugs, has his entire home destroyed, the windows burst, the doors kicked in, the fence knocked down. Without giving him any warning, nearly 20 SWAT rushed inside his house. This scared young man found himself begging for his life, face down on the grass. They found a couple grams of marijuana in his pocket, and nothing else.

It's absolutely infuriating to see the perverse abuse of power used against anyone, much less the young and innocent, all under the guise they are "helping". Helping who, exactly? And at what cost?

The writing felt strong, sharp, and emotionally charged. I enjoyed the repetition of "wonder why they are not popular?"

This reminded me of the NWA track "4k tha police". Indeed the police in all societies are the same, brutal and all, while in fact they are suppose to be "our friends".

I tell you i come from africa and i see all sort of crooked cops that engage from armed robbery to extra judicial killings...taking bribe is part of the police system, it leaves one wondering "what tha heck about security" when security is messing up the system.

This poem is strong and makes me angry. Abusing their power in such a way.
The same happens here often. That poor girl.
