A guy like you...

We get along so well

You are someone I totally get

 You understand me better than anyone else I’ve ever met

 We talk for hours about nothing at all

You have broken through every wall

You make me laugh, you make me smile

You make almost everything worthwhile

Any instrument you play sends shivers up my spine

Your voice makes my heart beat to the rhythm of time

But there is always that flaw

Something no one saw

Something that no one could see coming

Something that makes me turn and start running  

She is really lucky

I’m glad she makes you happy

Even though you say you and her get into tons of fights

Arguments that last so many nights

I’m happy that you think she is worth it

Even when she is having a little fit

How could I think that a guy like you

Could ever be with a girl like me

How could I think that someone as great as you

Wouldn’t already have a girl like her.

I love the irony at the midpoint, what started out as a lovefilled poem turned out to be a heartbreak poem with some selfcontempt to add more flavor.
