Death

Death

A Poem by Tarik

The angel’s wings flutter across the sky

The old man resting in his bed, with his eyes closed

The angel knocks and the window opens

“I shall show you mercy, old friend” the angel speaks

“I shall carry away your soul to the vaults of heaven”

The old man smiles and breathes in one last time.

The angel sways a hand over his chest and for the firs time

In seventy years, the shattered bones listen to the air, wallowing down the empty body.

The pain no longer exists; the illusion of the inner weight is all lost to the merciful hands.

The body rests on dust and earth for eternity.

The soul witnesses the beauty of death; the silence; the blackness.

The hope that arouses the piece of consciousness and makes it dance with mirth and freedom.

On earth, the coldness enwraps the body

The feet creak as the man strides down the snow

The bones congealed in their hinges.

He remains in his place for many days, abandoned and stiff.

People pacing in the ice.

None stands long enough to listen to the suppressed cries of a forsaken entity.

In heaven, the placid warmth of the infinite consciousness tears down the clouds.

It caresses the cheeks of a sinning carcass.

And the soul soars for eternity across emerald gardens of bliss.

beautiful wordcrafting! you've captured the multi-faceted beauty, sorrow and blessing of this powerful transition. I particularly enjoyed this part, "The body rests on dust and earth for eternity. The soul witnesses the beauty of death; the silence; the blackness. The hope that arouses the piece of consciousness and makes it dance with mirth and freedom. " well done! :o) wishing you laughter
