He told me he missed her

He told me he missed her

A Poem by Tarik

He told me he missed her

The way he caressed me when I was sad

made me forget that he missed her

He told me it was an affair

Then while teaching him to talk

He told me he missed her

He told that she left a mark

But I’m sure that the mark wasn’t

as hideous as the mark he left on me

He plunged his finger with in my soul

And scratched into my essence.

He engraved it deep with in my mind

The carvings deep and painful

They remained for a long time

that now they became the groves for  worms

He speaks about relationships

and solitude with a loved one

Words that I wish he spoke to me

But he didn’t

He spoke them to the part that listened to his desires

Not the part that yearned for him; the part that offered him

Warmth on nights in which he shivered, abandoned in the cold

Lingering for an ear to listen to his gasps.

He told me he loved me and then he went on to re phrase it

“Brotherly love”

I tether my words to my tongue with a cable of iron

And felt them thumping against my hard palate

All Words crave to be heard,

but my words plummet down my throat

Smacking against my bones

They accumulate down at my pelvic

And I remain on my knees for all eternity.

The heart crumbled over itself

It seized palpitating
