Sleepy-Eyed KittenA Poem by KiaraFor my cat, Kiara :)My sleeping kitten breathes in softly, Sighs in her dreaming, paws curling and uncurling. I lay a hand gently on her fur, Raising a small mew and an eye cracked open. That golden eye stares at me, Welcoming my hand stroking her fuzz. She is so innocent, Not aware of death and killing. She sleeps through most of the day, Taking naps during most breaks. She chases flies, Not caring about things I spend all day worrying about. She has food and water and a warm home. She has an abundance of love, Which she gives back in return. She's my best friend, Purring and snuggling when my tears need dried. She stares and listens when I need to talk. Maybe she doesn't understand, But does she really need to? She understands love, And that's something many people don't understand. © 2013 Kiara |
