The Dead of Winter

The Dead of Winter

A Poem by Kiara

Paint a picture on this already used canvas,

And put on this scarf to keep warm.

Winter is coming,

And it's going to be a hard one.

Everyone speaks in puffs of frozen air,

Obscuring the sun,

Hiding it from those who need to breathe.

Wrap the scarf tighter and paint some more.

Wipe away the paint;

Use another paper to draw on.

Tie the scarf tightly,

Don't hide the sun.

The trees have stopped breathing

So climb up high.

Keep the tree warm

And wrap the scarf around the branch.

Whisper one last veil of fog.

Wrap the scarf even tighter.

Let go of the tree

And let the others breathe.

Let the others see

The paintings you've created.

Let the others see the sun.

Let the others breathe.

Author's Note

Kiara
There's a lot of symbolism so it's probably a little confusing, but I'm pretty proud of it.
