Truthfully, the World's End

Truthfully, the World's End

A Story by Kiara
"

We had a writer thing last night and it was really fun. :p I wrote it in about ten minutes, so it could be better

"
"I'm scared, Cait," the young Joshua stared worriedly into his sister's sparkling blue eyes.  The government had announced the world's end.
"It's okay, Josh.  Maybe we can get out."  Cait's words were steady, but her hands trembled.  "Let's check and see what's going on outside."  The government had not announced the way the world would end, but merely gave them the five minutes to prepare for death.
Stepping to the curtain covering the large living room window, Cait pushed Josh behind her.  Shakily, Cait drew back the curtain and immediately tried to back up, screaming.
"Josh, are you okay?!" Cait screamed, moving off her flattened brother.
"Yup, we're all good," Josh said, forcing Cait's mouth into a smile.
"We have to get out of here, now!" Cait urged, remembering the situation.  Then, she sprinted to the kitchen, gathering food.  Josh, still by the window, peeked out cautiously.
"AAAHHHHHH!!!!"
The face of a crimson-eyed wolf gazed through the window, blood dripping from its dagger-like fangs.  Hundreds of similar wolves presented their bloodstained teeth, closing in on the small house.  Cait appeared, snatching Josh and fleeing to his bedroom as the wolf prepared for attack.  It jumped, shattering the window and sending glass flying to the floor.
Cait closed and locked the door just in time, barely evading a torturous fate.  Only now, it could be much, much worse.  The brother and sister held each other close, sobbing and wailing hysterically as they wondered if they could ever make it out alive.

Don't argue with fun - accept it for what it is.

This can be as viscious, dark, delicious, heart-full-or-breaking as your imagination allows. It says e v e r y t h i n g and nothing. And what constitutes the world anyway when all you see is three rooms. It does make you wonder if the bathroom is connected to the bedroom -- or not!

This was fun.

No, he gave us a prompt and we had to write about it. I didn't even have to think about it, the story was already there. Dad's was better though.
