I Want to Protect Them

I want to protect them,

The bruised and broken.

I want to fight for the world.

I want to help save this clouded place.

I want to help but I fear I cannot.

It seems so hard to save

This world, crushed and shattered.

I need to protect everyone.

Clouds cover up our hope

And the sun burns our dreams.

The moon and stars bring us false hope

But only to be taken away.

I want to protect them,

But there's too much to protect.

I cannot fight a million battles

When I'm already having trouble with one.

I cannot protect them

Because they need to protect themselves.

For now, I am worthless

And this world remains broken.
