What I Do Right

To say I'm faithful is to say the sun is hot
To say I'm loyal, don't even give it another thought
Every day I told you how beautiful you are
Every day I told you I love you more than any star

I gave you a kiss when I left for work and you still asleep
I even accepted I have to let you drive my jeep
I held you every day when I walked back through the door
And I happily and with pride held your hand in the store

I wrote you poems and bought you roses
For no reason, I did this in frequent doses
I held the door open anywhere we went
I provided for our family, for the money we spent

I bought us a house, because my credit was just enough
I was your shoulder, when life sometimes got rough
I supported you on your chosen dreams
I put my arms around you, when your nightmares screamed

I scratched your back every time you asked
And I tried my best, to accomplish any task
Everything I did was always for us
I know our feelings for each other, were true and just

All the things a husband /partner should do without a thought, but surprisingly few do. Knowing your circumstance makes this a bitter sweet write as, whatever you did, it was never going to be enough.

Thank you Gee, even coming back and rereading it brings a tear to my eye to know I gave it my all, it seemed to be enough for years, but I guess not forever, I'll never have answers I believe, and I have to live with that, unless God grants me a true miracle.
