I Am Not Alone

You were an inspiration

to me from a very young age.

Though time seperated us for over 100 years, I remembered...

I remembered a curious, bright child,

eager to explore the world around her.

I remembered a young lady 

unsure of her place in this world

with no friends to interact with.

I remembered a grown woman who found writing as her calling.

Though many did not approve,

she had determination that 

lit a fire in her.

She kept to herself,

writing late into the night.

Perfecting her craft.

I can relate to you, Emily-

on so many levels.

With your poems,

I am not alone.
