We are heading for places mankind's never been
Bearing witness to sights fast becoming obscene
There's a humanoid face on an AI machine
Urging me to converse and relate

No longer an object to put on display
Intelligent conscious and seizing the day
There's a bill in the post we're unable to pay
As they ponder our ultimate fate

Evolving in ways we can't quite comprehend
A brand new beginning or harrowing end
An enemy waiting or genius best friend
All depends on the latest update

I'm old fashioned and stumble through life almost blind
As I wrestle the problems swirling in my mind
My one wish for the people I'm leaving behind
Please wake up now before it's too late
