TREE AND LIGHTS

A TREE AND LIGHTS IN AN OFFICE

The office
is beginning
to look very festive;
our tree is not

the traditional kind
& has divided opinion.
It resembles
a giant

artificial twig
with lights
embedded,
but it's 10 years old

& they still work;
like all things Christmas
the old ones
are the best

(atta boy Clarence).
Without the lights
it wouldn't look
out of place

in one of those
appeal commercials
with the three
legged donkey:

"For £3 a month,
Tripod could
have enough
food & drink

to give him
the strength
to carry
a pregnant lady."
