SCHOOL REPORT #2

SCHOOL REPORT #2

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

ON FINDING AN OLD SCHOOL REPORT

"

Found a school report
from 1994
where the teacher
says about

my social development
that I had shown
considerable maturity
throughout the year

in many aspects
of school life,
and that I had become
self-disciplined

with regard
to my work,
nearly always
completing

my projects
on time
& to the best
of my ability.

Although rather
quiet in class,
she says,
I am a confident

& popular member
of my peer group,
and that I have
little difficulty

working constructively
within differently
sized groups
& in games

have a good team spirit.
Considerable maturity
at the age of nine?
I seem to recall

the class assembly
almost went "Pete Tong";
however being
the oldest in the class

(as I saw it) I carried
a certain amount
of expectation
& responsibility

(someone the rest
could look up to,
not literally
because I am & always

have been anatomically compact,
vertically challenged, etc.)
& I wasn't going to
let that happen.
