WOULD WISH.

WOULD WISH.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A FATHER TALKS TO HIS DEAD SON.

"

I would wish
you here,

here as you were;
the eyes large

and deep
as oceans.

I would
have you

to hold,
back from

the dead,
not some place else,

but here instead.
I would

that you would
speak again,

soft, deep
and with that

hint of joy,
my lost son,

my grown man -
boy.

The day is quickly approaching, and soon, it will be long gone. But the heart needs recognition, just as surely as we need air to breathe.

...he lives in your writing of him, you know...

My best,
Kelly
