GIRL ON A TRAIN.

GIRL ON A TRAIN.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A MAN STUDIES A SAD GIRL ON A TRAIN

"

Who the girl was
on the train
Johnny didn't know
but she looked

preoccupied
about something
gazing out
of the window

dark hair
sad expression
good looker
he mused

taking in
her legs
(as he did)
her figure

the far away gaze
how she sat
and dressed
he studied

maybe her guy
has dumbed her
or she dumped him
or maybe she's not

got a guy
and wants one
the train rocked
side to side

other passengers
looked away
or listen
to their iPods

or what have you
shut off
in their own worlds
but Johnny sat

and watched her
(as he would)
it reminded him
of the time

he had a dame
years before
and she always
saw him off

on the train
and he'd look out
of the window
until she was out

of sight then he'd
sit down
with his cigarette
and set it alight

but that was then
but this dame
seemed to be
on a sad downer

and far away
hope you meet
some guy soon
(he thought

not said)
inside his head.
