Someone.

Someone.

A Poem by Terry Collett

Someone
left the tap running
I can hear it
from the bedroom
as I try to sleep.
Someone
is singing
and I can imagine them
watching the bath
fill with water
at the same time sing
some aria by Puccini.
The water stops running
and so does the singing.
I live alone
and each evening
I hear the running of water
and the singing
then it stops
and I turn over
and close my eyes
and try to sleep
and that someone's God
my soul may keep.

Loneliness and anxiety loom in this one. Of course, those who do have someone can be just as unhappy.
